This study examines the effects of pandemics, especially the coronavirus (COVID-19), on the structure of the food supply chain. In this regard, an attempt has been made to examine, analyze, and prioritize the effects of pandemics on transportation systems, inventory, and food suppliers using a combined method of multiple case studies, content analysis, and Friedman. The results of this study, presented in the form of 15 basic propositions, show that pandemics have caused widespread changes in supply chain management methods, including severe fluctuations in supply and demand, increased transportation costs, and the need to review inventory management policies. This study also identifies solutions to improve supply chain management in critical situations and analyzes its effects on the future of this field. Therefore, the innovation of the present study is to clarify and analyze the effects of pandemics on the structure of the supply chain in order to make environmental demand predictable.
